Wildfire Prevention:
Protecting Our Homes,
Forests, and Future
We need real solutions that prevent catastrophic fires, protect communities, and restore our forests. My plan focuses on smart forest management, stronger emergency response, and ensuring Southern California gets the resources it needs
A Common-Sense Approach to Wildfire Prevention
Southern California faces year-round wildfire threats, yet bureaucratic delays and poor land management have made the problem worse. It’s time to take a proactive, bipartisan approach to wildfire prevention—one that reduces fire risks, strengthens communities, and invests in solutions that work.
My plan supports responsible forest management, strengthens our firefighting efforts, and turns excess forest materials into valuable resources—including supporting the National Forest Foundation’s Wood for Life Program, which repurposes hazardous overgrowth into firewood for Native American communities, veterans, and families in need.

Key Priorities for Wildfire Prevention
- Expand the Wood for Life Program – Turn excess forest materials into firewood for Native American communities, veterans, and families in need while reducing dangerous fuel loads in our forests.
- Increase Forest Thinning & Controlled Burns – Support responsible forest thinning and prescribed burns to reduce wildfire fuel and improve forest health.
- Invest in Fire-Resistant Infrastructure – Provide funding for home hardening programs, defensible space grants, and fire-resistant building materials to protect communities.
- Strengthen Firefighter Resources – Secure better training, equipment, and personnel for our local and federal firefighting teams.
- Improve Water Storage for Fire Suppression – Invest in reservoir expansion, groundwater recharge, and aerial firefighting resources to ensure enough water is available when wildfires strike.
- Hold Washington Accountable – Cut federal red tape to allow local leaders and private landowners to implement fire prevention strategies without delays.

The Wood for Life Program: A Win-Win Solution
One of the most effective wildfire prevention strategies is removing hazardous overgrowth from our forests—but what happens to that material? The Wood for Life Program transforms this excess wood into firewood for Native American communities who rely on it for heating homes, cooking, and traditional ceremonies.
This initiative reduces wildfire fuel, restores forest health, and provides resources to communities in need. Supporting this program means creating a safer, healthier environment while ensuring our forests are actively managed in a responsible, sustainable way.
A Future Without Catastrophic Wildfires
Wildfires shouldn’t be a fact of life in California—we can prevent them with the right policies. By investing in wildfire prevention, holding Washington accountable, and supporting programs like Wood for Life, we can protect our homes, forests, and economy.
I’m committed to fighting for real solutions that keep Southern California safe. Let’s work together to make it happen.
